Process:
This ring is handmade by me in my home studio. Fabricated from sterling silver sheet, wire and a cast band with an antiqued satin finish. The beautiful Leland Blue is bezel set and makes this modern ring design truly unique. I am proud of the heirloom quality of this ring.
A bit about Leland blue stone: In the 1800s an iron smelting business used ore from the Upper Peninsula and created charcoal from area timber in large kilns. Masses of the byproduct, now known as Leland blue stone, were dumped into the harbor. After over a century of tumbling in the surf and sand, this material has been transformed into a beautiful, local beach gem. To this this day, the slag material, called Leland Blue, is found in the waters and along the shores of Lake Michigan.
